TV set: Entre Telas
Scenographic Design Inspired by Tradition and Popular Narrative
The set design for Entre Telas, a late-night entertainment talk show in Spain, is a proposal that merges contemporary aesthetics with the traditions of Spanish ruralism. Inspired by Yerma, the renowned play by Federico García Lorca, this scenographic space reinterprets the iconic scene of the laundresses—a gathering place where the community’s secrets and stories come to life.
This scenographic concept goes beyond mere visual design, transforming into a dynamic stage that reinforces the essence of the show: a space where conversation flows naturally, evoking the warmth of village gatherings, where communication intertwines with the everyday life of the surroundings.
Scenographic Concept and Approach
The design proposal is based on creating an evocative environment that establishes a dialogue between tradition and modernity. The set composition recreates a rural Andalusian setting, reinterpreted with contemporary scenographic elements that enable an immersive experience for hosts, guests, and the audience alike.
One of the most representative elements of the design is the area that alludes to lines of white fabrics, a symbolic nod to theater curtains and intimate spaces. This creates an atmosphere that evokes tradition while embracing an innovative approach.
Color Palette and Materiality
To reinforce the visual identity of the set, a warm color palette has been used, dominated by earthy tones, greens, and oranges, inspired by the simplicity of the Andalusian landscape. This color selection not only provides a sense of rootedness and tradition but also creates a contrast with the contemporary elements of television production, giving the space a sophisticated and inviting aesthetic.
Materiality plays a key role in the narrative of the set, integrating elements such as wood, white plaster, terracotta, and brick. These materials evoke the traditional architecture of southern Spain, blending with modern details that enhance the lighting and scenographic textures.
Design and Spatial Layout
The set is structured into various areas that allow for dynamism in production and flexibility in staging:
- Main Set: The space where the show’s hosts are positioned, designed with inspiration from Andalusian plazas and courtyards. The arrangement of furniture and architectural elements reinforces the feeling of a public gathering space, where conversations unfold in a relaxed atmosphere.
- Complementary Stage: An area designated for special presentations, characterized by its textile framework and vegetation, which provides a visual contrast to the main set and creates a more versatile scenographic composition.
- Scenographic Lighting: A lighting system integrated into the architectural design, emphasizing the volumes and textures of the set while adding a theatrical and cinematic character to the scene.
Innovation and Visual Narrative
This project not only meets the technical requirements of a television production but also introduces a new approach to scenographic storytelling, where the set is not merely a visual backdrop but an active element that complements and enhances the show’s narrative.
Through a careful balance of traditional and contemporary elements, the Entre Telas set is established as an intimate, dynamic, and visually evocative space, providing a stage that enriches the interaction between the protagonists and the audience.
